Pat Douglas – The Cries Of;
With “Mother of Harlots” being my 5th release, I would like to think that I am finally what one would – call a seasoned musician. It can definitely be heard in the new record for sure. I am very pleased with my most resent 9 song conceptual project. The record is directly inspired by the Holy word of God. Directly pulled from Revelations, the songs on the new record kind of wrote themselves. I plan to continue writing, recording and touring for quite some time to come, God willing of course.
Michael Molina- Cat-5 Magazine;
Pat Douglas of The Cries Of writes songs that artfully intertwine allegory and allusion without being preachy or overbearing. I would liken Douglas’ songwriting to Andy Hull’s work in Manchester Orchestra and the style to Hull’s work in Right Away, Great Captain.
Josh Street – Branch Records;
Pat Douglas creates his unique and eclectic music under the name The Cries Of. The Cries Of began in late 2006 with the release of his first record titled Just Another Nobody. This self release helped to jump start an extensive tour of the Southeast where Pat was able to showcase his unique songwriting abilities and build a loyal fan base following. In 2007, Branch Records released The Sparrow. This was the second, yet first full length project for The Cries Of. The Sparrow encompassed a unique blend of multiple genres and exemplified a lot of Pats musical talents. January 2009 marked the highly anticipated release of his third album titled Hide and Seek for Six.
Earmarked the most remarkable release from The Cries of to date, Pat has finally found his niche. Hide and Seek for Six is a wonderful combination of his love for the experimental mixed with his honest and approachable form of songwriting. Pats unprecedented style comes from a variety of different influences ranging from classic rock to current indie, metal to electronica, yet is primarily rooted in quality acoustic folk melodies. The latest album from The Cries Of, Hide and Seek for Six features that wonderful songwriting joined by inviting instrumentation. Pat has finally found a home in this new, unique sound and is ready to share his heart with the world.
