Under the Dome, by Steve King was a long freaking book. So, as short as this little post is, I am obviously not doing the book justice. I finished reading this bad boy last week and just wanted to say that I enjoyed it. And as a writer I have noticed that I try to compare my work to other authors, no matter how big they are or not. What I noticed with King vs my writings, is that I could write big books, too. If I wanted to spend that much time on fluff. I am starting to wonder if I should, because he has obviously honed in on something the world loves.
But enough of that… back to the book. The pace was great, for the most part. The only real flaw that I saw was that there were just too many characters to keep up with. There were times that I found myself confused, trying to place what character was what. Out of the dozen and a half characters that the book followed, there really were only about five leading characters. So, the others, at times, got jumbled. Beyond that, the book was fantastic. I liked the way it was written and hope to take away from it as a writer.
One last thing: although I highly recommend this book, the ending was a little silly.

The first and second drafts are done! Yay!!!
You have no idea how excited this makes me feel. That book took a lot out of me for some reason. I guess the more of yourself you put into a project, the more it takes out of you. I guess that can makes sense.
Crazy.
Anyway, the first draft came out to a bambooming 93,000 words–well over the minimal requirement.
We don’t have a release date yet, obviously, but as soon as I know something, you will.

Update on the book project for Permuted Press, guys.
The book is called ‘THE REMNANT’, and is a post-apocalyptic tale. There are no zombies. No monsters, unless you count the monsters of men. I have had a lot of fun writing this one. So far it is coming along ahead of schedule. The deadline for the book is July 1st and I am nearly done with the first draft. In all, I have about three chapters left to finish the books. Once it is done; sometime this month, I am going to spend all of June doing hard 2nd and 3rd draft edits to the book for the July deadline. I don’t know when the book will release once it is in the publisher’s hands. But regardless the book is coming along really well and I am excited to say that this one just might be one of the best ones I have done. Most of my books focus on the situation around a group. This book focuses more on the group that are in a situation. If that makes sense. I am really happy with how it is coming along and can see a lot of Richard Laymon influence slipping in there. I have been reading a lot of his stuff lately. And what can I say? You write what you read.
Yesterday was free comic book day Nationwide. I had been keeping up with this upcoming event for quite a while and actually hit the stores on this day by total accident. Either way it was great. I got a few awesome Eerie magazines, one of which is older than I am. I also got one of the new Creepy comics. I am excited to get into these. I have been finding a lot of inspiration from these lately.
The comic books that they gave away for free were okay. There was a Walking Dead book, some superman books, the Smurfs, the Simpsons… stuff like that. I got a half a dozen free books, too. I will read them and enjoy them. But I wouldn’t have picked anything like that up on any other day. But heck, free is free.
S. D Perry changed my life. And it has taken this long for me to even realize it. I am an author of both bizarro and survival horror, as most all of you know. Well, my first book is realistically inspired by her take on the Resident Evil story. Her first series on that story that released back in the mid to late 90′s was what got me into reading. Yes, I admit that as a kid I hated reading. I loved games. The resident evil games were such a big deal for me that I read this book series. Now, I know that you could chalk my writing off on the games, but that isn’t true. The chance that could hate the books once I read the books when I got them back then was very real. But I didn’t. They were great. She did them justice. As a result, her excellent writing skills kept me going. And I read them all. And look at me now. I write for not only money, but for the love of creative release. I am posting this today because this week these paperbacks showed up on my doorstep. I can’t wait to re-read them and once again be challenged as a person.
I don’t know how often any of you actually watch old movies from the 40′s, 50′s, and 60′s, but I do every now and again. And this weekend I came across two gems. One of them was a movie called ‘Bucket of Blood’. But this post is not about that movie. This post is about the Gilamonster. I would tell you about the movie, but the above photos say it all.
The new comic books came in today. I can’t wait to read them. I am looking forward to getting back into a new comic that has fresh issues coming out. The anticipation. The eagerness to read the next issue. The waiting. It will make it well worth it for sure. I would be lying if I spit out a bunch of useful facts about Eerie as if I knew my business. I don’t. All I can say is that they have been around for a very long time and that this new set is a fresh run of releases. I have skimmed a few of the old books. And yes I enjoyed them.
I would lie if I didn’t say I got the idea for reader orientation from somewhere else. Countless full time authors out there seem to be big on doing a quarterly orientation. Am I a full time writer? Absolutely not, but again I would be leaving a little out if I said I weren’t pretty close to it.
So this is going to be where I do an informational dump for new readers and old alike.

Prior to welding I was a full time touring singer-songwriter. I spent more than five years traveling Nation Wide playing more than 150 shows a year. Although it was a solo project I went by the name THE CRIES OF. Since tour is over and I primarily focus on writing literature rather than music, I have decided something. While on tour I also made money on the side doing web-design/development, album covers, shit designs and more for other touring bands. Now that my career has shifted over to books so has my designing. Over the last two years I have done more than a thousand book covers and a couple dozen websites for authors and publishers alike. In the last 6 months I have really become overwhelmed with a love for Bizarro Fiction. I am currently working on a secret project in this genre. Once it comes out you are going to freak. But, as a result of reading more and more bizarro I decided to open up my own press. I am the man behind Bizarro Pulp Press. Obviously we are a small press, because it is mostly just run by me, and we are only four months old. Regardless, it has grown rapidly and will continue to do so. I am having fun with it and so are the authors that are on board.
This month (April), I am coming close to finishing the first draft of my novel, THE REMANT, for Permuted Press. So that is exciting.
Although I have already read this… I want so bad!
